Bachata

Sensual/Modern Bachata

Basic II: Mondays & Fridays 7 pm – 8 pm
Intermediate: Mondays & Fridays 8 pm – 9 pm

Concept: This dance is a fusion of styles, adding body movement found in Zouk and some Tango movements to a traditional bachata step. Linda and Aldo place special focus on respecting the follower’s body and personal space, while still stressing a strong foundation in leading and techniques to properly move the follower. It is a modern style of bachata, where it gives Linda and Aldo the opportunity to bring the different backgrounds in dance that they've learned and fuse it to make something much more interesting.

Traditional Bachata

Hours: Tuesdays: 7 pm - 8:30 pm

Concept: This is a dance that derives from the Dominican Republic. It is inspired by bolero, a slow tempo dance. Depending on the music, they tend to dance to songs with a lot of syncopation, which is steps in between beats. In the Classé style of this traditional bachata, we teach the basic steps taught by Linda and Eric. The first half of the class is purely footwork and the second half is partner work which includes the open and closed positions. These classes are progressive, so it’s important to stay committed and not miss many of the classes.

Salsa

Salsa ON1

Basic: Thursdays 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Intermediate: Tuesdays 8 pm – 9 pm

Concept: This is a dance also known as the LA style. This dance has a strong emphasis on sensuousness, theatricality and acrobatics. The essential elements are the forward-backward basic step and the cross-body lead. We have a basic class for those who have little to no knowledge of salsa. Linda and Eric hold special workshops that teach salsa progressively at an intermediate level.

Salsa ON2

Hours: Tuesdays: 9 pm - 10 pm

Concept: This is a dance also known as the New York style. There is greater emphasis on performing shines in which dancers separate themselves and dance solo styling and doing footwork. We are working on including workshops in the schedule for this class.
